My Virgin Flight

So this was how my career took flight. In lots of slight turbulances.

Was a little scare @ first. But realised that some of my other batchmates experienced turbulances too.

My maths must be getting poor cos the time that i estimated we'll get in Auckland turns out to be much less than we expected. Sianz... so AKL came and went like this... Have no idea when's the next time i get the time to explore =)

That aside. Having not enough time to explore AKL is auxillary. The company i have should be a primary concern and that brings a smile to my face =)

I was braced for a bad experience. Firstly, the pc must be against SNYs, cos there was errors in logging in, hence we were late into the briefing room. Secondly, we did not really managed to introduce ourselves to all the CLs (not until we do it on the plane b4 boarding). For Kelly, she has a thirdly, which was carelessly leaving her handbag behind at the scanning area.

However, as the flight progressed it turn out to be pretty cool cos the peeps in both galleys, esp mine, was very friendly and my mentor was nice too. She was reasonable, helpful and taught me alot of things. It was also a blessing that the load was only half full, i.e. 150+ pax. Another crew whom worked in the J class, Jocelyn told me that back in March, she did the same pattern of flight and it was full load to and fro. Phewz....

What more can i ask for? Absolutely grateful for the nice crew and light load.

Just hours before reporting time, i went to Bugis for lunch with Pi. While waiting for him to arrive, there i was slurping my red milk tea and doing last minute revision of the concoctions.

View from the Langham hotel room, the morning before we left. Can you see? It's so "dead". Feels as if i'm starring out of M Hotel in CBD on a Sunday morning. haha...

Reached the hotel at about 12 noon NZ time. But we're tired after working overnight, so we took a nap til 4 pm b4 heading out to explore on our own, determined to get the most out of AKL when we can. It was dizzling all day long.

Luckily Kelly read the map correctly and we managed to find our way to the "town" @ Queens street. We got so excited when we spotted this "Pasar Malam" look-a-like place that reminds us of home.

Starbucks! It seems like everywhere i go i'll be looking out for one. Kelly tried their white chocolate drink, something unique we won't find in Singapore. For me, i just wanna fill my stomach with something that won't go wrong: my all time favourite from SB - Vanilla Latte!

Not sure what's this building, but this seems to be a performance theatre for "Broadway". Stomp is gonna perform there =)

Shucks, didn't know how to adjust for night photography. This Metro building looks really charming there and then. By the way, when i took the pic, it was 5+ pm barely 6 pm lor. And it's so dark already.

The Metro building again, but with the Sky Tower in the back drop.

The town hall. The lightings gives a very Fullerton feel. Didnt go in to see see either =(

Headed back to hotel at 6+ pm and call up everyone to invite them for dinner, which they have actually made plans for. But it's a custom for juniors crew to do that, as usual.

The 10 of us who went to dinner @ this "Ding Hao" Cantonese restaurant frequented by all crews, inclusive of tech crews. The mutton there tastes yuuuuuummy! No weird smell or taste like we usually find here in SG. Must be the grass there... Like they always say "The grass overseas are greener" Haaa...

I think IFS Lee is gonna be 1 of the best IFS i'll meet ba... He's really friendly, approachable and forgiving. Totally no air or too much formality. But of cos i wont wanna take advantage of that or take him for granted, otherwise i get to lose too hehe... *secret*

After dinner some of us continued to the Sky City casino.
Who says i cant bring camera into a casino? Haha... The wonders a camera phone does =P

During this time, i got to know Jocelyn better =) She shared with us some of her experiences in her 2 years of flying. Like how she was 1 of those affected during SARS in the middle of training, and how sometimes she venture out alone out-station cos noone wants to go, for instance Disneyland..... Sad right? Hiak.... She's also contemplating whether to resign and further her studies with SMU or SIM, full or part time.....

Come to think of it, i still think it's the right choice to have completed my tertiary studies and jump into this industry. At least i have no more worries about having to stop half way and get my degree. Unlike my parents, they were still nagging a little about my wasted degree the day before i left for AKL..... Zzzzzzz..... I begged to differ seriously.

The Sky Tower from the bottom. Wanted to go there but it was too late and a little ex to visit. Cost NZ$35 to go up. So i did a dangerous little stunt, by running onto the middle of the cab drop-off point to capture this pic.

On the back to the airport. Wanted to catpure as much of the greenery of NZ we all heard so much about. But it looks like a not-so-good attempt. Hiak...

The flight back, i was more confident to meet the Pax. Not as shy as the first time. In addition, the 2nd set of crew was great too.

Initially it's a little weird for me, as we were just getting to know the first set of crew and now i've gotta thread on new water again. Abit sian....

Thank god, i fit in fast and the crew warm up to me soon as well. I like my 2nd mentor even more actaully Hehe.... She's more ... erm... approachable i guess? And less strict... Good and bad ba....
The load was slightly heavier but i learnt more things on the 2nd flight. They took the time to teach and talk to me nicely =)

Although i prefer my virgin flight, i think i benefited more from the second flight.

Like i said earlier, I was expecting to be zapped. We did ganna "zapped". But guess from who?

Haha... i was surprised too.

It was the Captain aka the tech crews. Just because we didn't introduce ourseleves to them...

Okay, i admit my mistake. Yes i should have the courtesy to introduce myself. But us being SNYs wasn't aware of this practice my dear.... They make such a big issue out of it, complained to the IFS, until all cabin crew on the flight knew about it and IFS has to come and ask us go up to the cockpit after take-off to intro ourselves. There the chinese captain "lectured" us a little. After we landed, the IFS asked us to stay behind and talked to us again about this issue. *Dots*

KAOZ. I know captain very big la. But it just says how much you guys crave for recognition lor... One which you will never earn. If you want respect, earn it. Don't command it.

Hong Kong tmr. Will get 1 full day in HKG. Yay yay yay! Will make up for the loss time in AKL . Hehe~

Right, time to crash again...
